Kunal Puri recently faced various accusations and allegations stemming from a long-running premium fraud/scam scheme. On January 11, 2022, Stafford, Texas police arrested Kunal Puri “Sonny”. Puri posted a $20,000 bond before being transported to the Fort Bend County Jail.
In December, a Travis County grand jury brought two counts against Puri and several of his enterprises, including Sehgal & Sons Enterprises, Ultra Building Services Inc., and Ultra Medical Cleaning & Environmental Services. Puri of Stafford, Texas, is charged with concealing staff and earnings for seven years, from July 24, 2009, to August 16, 2016, in order to lower workers’ compensation insurance payments and maintain employment.
The Texas Mutual Insurance Company, Service Lloyds, and Travelers impacted insurance providers collaborated extensively with the Division of Workers’ Compensation (DWC) Prosecution and Fraud Teams.
The DWC’s Deputy Commissioner of Compliance and Investigations, Debra Knight, stated that they are committed to detecting and investigating dishonest independents who misuse the workers’ compensation system for personal gain.
He was charged with employing deception to achieve document execution with the intent to injure or commit fraud. An accusation is a criminal behaviour claim, not real evidence.
